The attempt at pleasantries was completely lost on Squall, as he stared intensely at the newcomer. He said nothing, only nodding once slowly; to indicate that he had no intentions of running away. His eyes mechanically searched around the area, trying to find some indication of where his gunblade might be.
Not turning to face Anders, he growled low in his throat, "I need my blade."

A pale brow rose at the stranger's request. He'd never considered that a mage would request the use of a sword... It confirmed his suspicions that this was the "special" one he'd been informed about. Anders clamped his teeth on his bottom lip and glanced towards the outside of the cage.
"I spotted some chests towards the back. Most likely, anything they took from you would be there," he said lowly, carefully placing down the chains. "Are you at all gifted with stealth?"

Anders had never before witnessed such a fighting style; the combination of magic and fighting prowess that Squall wielded was something uncommon to Anders' world, and he could not help but spend a moment marveling. Squall was... something to behold; both powerful and ruthless.
But there was a fight going on, and Anders doubted if standing around starring was the best of ideas. The commotion allowed him room to slip in front of the cowering captives, while flinging another fireball into the fray of swarming thugs. One of them wheeled away from Squall and went to Anders, who promptly brought up the blade on the end of his staff, slicing the man ruthlessly across the chest. He crumpled at Anders' feet.
"You're--" amazing somehow felt inappropriate, "--rather good this!" he called to Squall with a grin.
