Life just got a little simpler

I will not be a Planner II/GIS in Long Range. My interview, which I thought went alright, actually didn't go so hot and I was ranked 5th out of 9, with the top 4 going on to a second interview. I never do as well in interviews as I want to, either. I do well in presentations. I prefer when the school asks for a presentation or a lesson demo. That's happened once this year.

I think you're placing far too much emphasis on the house. (Though gods know I wish we were in a spot to buy one, too. I understand the importance.) So far, you haven't found the right one and because of your experience with a few almost-right, it seems you're feeling rushed. That's the way it reads anyway. I understand that the housing market is different than you expected, so you will have to make higher offers more quickly than you bargained for. But if you're looking for a long-term house (which it seems like you are) rather than a 5 year house to resell later, I think your family will benefit overall from taking your time about it.

One of the things that really got me was that the format was especially rigid. Just the written question, with no follow ups or requests for clarification from the questioner or other members of the review panel. I think that the intent is to have each interview be as uniform as possible, however the result isn't an engaging process.
