I Cannesn't Go For That (No Cannes Do).

fille_a_paris and I are going to Cannes next week - it's particularly exciting because our flight on Thursday morning is so early that we're having to spend Wednesday night in a hotel in Luton, so it's like two holidays in one. I decided to visit the "What's On…Out 'n About" page of Luton Today to see if there were any exciting events lined up for our one ( Read more... )

Always good to start the holiday off with a glamorous location - we started ours in scenic Croydon.

On our return journey we're arriving back really late in Luton and guess what - we've booked another night in the same hotel. So it's kind of like three holidays in one. I'll send you a postcard from Luton if you like, assuming I'm not busy with the Baha'i Community.

Ah, that famous 'London Luton' airport, so close to London.

They have basically used Babelfish, haven't they? Marvellous. I like Armenians, though, so fair play to them. I organised a trip to Armenia last year for Old Boss and the lovely travel agent lady who was exceedingly patient with OB's constant indecision and last minute changes was in London later in the year at a travel expo thing and saw OB and gave him a necklace for me, it is made of some sort of pale yellow quartz which apparently wards off the evil eye. Result!

I'm going to try it out then, I'm going to have to give you the Evil Eye, assuming the procedure is relatively straightforward and easy to learn. Anyway, doesn't "The Broken Corn Salad" sound like an episode of Seinfeld. And "The Salad of Believed Cabbage Heart" like a short story by Edgar Allen Poe. And "Bamyas" like something you'd be embarrassed to go to the doctor about. "Ooh, me bamyas are playing up again".

Right, well that's fair enough, although obviously in order to give me the Evil Eye, assuming the procedure is relatively straightforward and easy to learn, and give the necklace a fair chance of actually working, you will need to come to my office to try it, you know, giving me the Evil Eye, assuming the procedure is relatively straightforward and easy to learn, so that I will have the necklace handy in order to put it on and give it a fair chance of actually working to protect me, as I don't think it's fair to expect it to protect me when I'm not actually wearing it.

This is an amusing poll when you fill it out and see how everyone else has answered.

I got them all right, and so did many others. But I'm going to be in Cannes next week. So I think I should win on the basis that I'm the only entrant who can collect their prize.

Oh if only that were possible, but unfortunately the small print at the end of this entry strictly prohibits members of my family from being eligible to win.

Hullo. You missed a treat last night. Devant were ace. Which made up for the bit immediately before they went on, in which I had to button Foz? into his gorilla suit, in the gents. Man! He's a sweaty feller!

Of course they were ace, they're always ace! How old's Foz now anyway? He must surely be pushing forty. And that Queen Mother, she must be sixty if she's a day.

Foz? is less old than the average age of first band The Would Be Goods. Clare said, "Look! If they are not too old to be in a band, then you're definitely not". I looked at the guitarist and thought, "He dresses a bit like me, only like I dress when I'm in the office and feeling a bit ropey and hungover".

I was chatting with Foz? afterwards. He's a nice bloke. Yeah. Nice and old.

I dunno about the Queen mum. Why! Why, she must, what, fiftyfiveish? Looking good on it though.
