I'm not a computer tech or anything, but from my experience "major hardware failures" are really hard to make unless you intentionally go in and start fudging with either the computer hardware or the Windows folder or if you d/l something. It's quite possible she unintentionally tried to d/l a component in order to play a Pogo game and it didn't agree with your computer. Perhaps next time you should designate a Guest log-in for people like your mother who may be prone to click first and ask questions later, and disable the d/l ability for the Guest account. I'm going to assume that your PC is up and running from your subject line and from the fact that you're making a post, though. *grin*
