So, I come to bear writings for the ongoing contest (that seems to have died with all the website posts).
Honestly, I'm not even sure if this qualifies as an entry, but regardless, I bring poetry. XD
"The Song of a Sea God"
Behold your sky,
The dome above,
Where your dreams are captured,
Held on display,
In a frame,
Protected by a delicate glass case
Don't touch.
The dome has always been there
Even before you
Slipped
Into the carefully calculated arms of
Ambition.
Fate.
Perseverance.
Regal eyes,
Illuminated by an almost invisible shine,
Survey the preserved, untouched land
Below
you.
You've never felt this way before,
Have
you?
You are king.
I know
You know
We know
They know
That I'm the prize you want.
Thus the war has begun.
Behold our dance,
A grueling fight.
You slash to the left,
I cut to the right.
I see the weapon.
I see the shine in your eyes.
The colors flash:
Red, yellow, blue,
But I know a slight gash
Won't stop you.
If you were weak,
You would not have come so far.
Keep up now,
It's not over yet.
You'll see --
I'll show you a lesson you won't forget.
You think you've fooled me;
You've only fooled yourself.
Don't give up,
It's almost done.
Haha.
You took the bullet,
But I chose the gun.
Crash.
History before you starts to unwind,
As you recall how you lost your feeble mind.
You see your life flash before your eyes,
The fear of death is something that you cannot disguise.
Where's your chance?
Where's your chance?
Take one last look at the dome above,
As you plummet to the ground, you dying dove,
Vivid hues burning black,
Gilded frames about to crack.
The sky is falling!
The sky is falling!
You pitiful pigeon and rotten scum,
All you'll hear is the last beats of the war drum,
Because for you, my friend, I have no sound,
Goodnight, sweet prince, you've lost your crown.
Thus your dreams
Slipped
From the glass case,
And shattered
Beneath
Your feet,
Swept away with the ashes of what could have been
I know your pride's lost,
Your regality only a finite reminder
Of the god you became for
just
a moment.
Keep your head high
And your hopes up.
For I know you are still strong,
I have not sacrificed you yet, but for now,
Behold your sky,
The dome above.
Don't touch.
