On Jagjaguwar
you all know my albums of the week series. some time back i posted about 2 stunning Jagjaguwar releases. as with all albums of the week posts, i put a link up to go buy from Jagjaguwar's online store-supporting artists is important to me, and its good karma. anyways, as you can read by revisiting that post, i got a pretty pointed nastygram from Abe at Jagjaguwar about not being a good way to show support for artists. Of course my response was that i was trying to pass along good music to my friends, and that google is not going to find my unprotected .zip until months after the fact etc etc. anyways, i got no response to my response from Abe or anyone else at Jagjaguwar.
So i pick up the Ladyhawk album a little while back and spin it lovingly. While at Pitchfork i hit the record sale tent and pick up The Besnard Lakes LP with that giant, beautiful cover art. Did you hear they were nominated for the Polaris this year? i really like that album and hope they win it. anyways, opening the sleeve out pops this little gem of a catalogue:
