Name: Hyuuga Hinata
Fandom: Naruto
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Time Period: Post-Pein arc
Wing Color: White
History: In here!
Personality:

The first thing one would notice about Hinata during the series' run is that she's very timid and very polite, often using appropriate name suffixes when talking to people. During the earlier parts of the animanga, she usually stutters (more if she's around Naruto) and rarely speaks her opinion. The reason for this is that she lacks self-confidence, possibly as a result of her father's contempt for her. Due to her rough childhood, she had always thought that she's a failure and would often spend hours crying. It's because Hinata's kind, a trait she inherited from her mother that Neji used to consider a flaw, and dislikes competing and fighting. This greatly clashes with how her father sees her - a potent ninja worthy of inheriting the main family.

Stemming from this kindness and hard upbringing is her incredible empathy. This is obvious when she's one of the few characters who identifies with Naruto's painful childhood and desire to be acknowledged. Despite her weaknesses, Hinata is never hopelessly weak even when her father viewed her as such. She's hardworking, often seen trying to change herself for the better since she used someone else's burning desire for recognition as an inspiration. Generally, Hinata opts to think carefully before acting, and when she does manage to muster enough self-confidence, she can be surprisingly competent. These episodes of confidence typically occur when around Naruto or for Naruto's benefit which was palpable during the first Chuunin Exams where she was pitted against her cousin, Neji. She becomes more open about her opinion as Part 1 progresses and, by Part 2, Hinata is more confident overall and demonstrates a willingness on occasion to take decisive action, unlike before.

Evidently, Naruto's the main person who shaped her into a stronger character as he inspired her throughout the series. Her long-standing admiration has now developed into unquestionable and undying love for him. From the beginning, Hinata's affection for Naruto was really apparent to almost every character except Naruto himself, who remained oblivious to her feelings. In fact, Naruto did find it awkward to be with Hinata at times since she was unable to properly articulate herself in his presence, finding her dark and weird at first. Even so, Naruto has shown to have some form of concern for her at times, as the two have been shown to get along quite well with one another. As the series progresses, Hinata goes to great lengths for Naruto because she fiercely believes in him. Naruto's two-and-a-half-year absence did nothing to diminish her feelings for him, and in fact, she fainted when he first returned, showing us her undoubted loyalty. During the invasion of Pain, Hinata finally confessed her love to Naruto and was also willing to die to protect him. This event was actually the only time Hinata spoke to Naruto without blushing, fear, or awkwardness.

Hinata gets along well with her teammates. Kiba's actions toward her are often motivated by his concern for her, such as when he urged her to forfeit if she was matched against Neji or Gaara during the Chuunin Exams. Shino possesses a quiet confidence in Hinata, and will make a point of assuring others when they doubt or worry about her. Hinata is also the closest to Team 8's sensei, Kurenai, who is not only interested in Hinata's growth as a ninja but also as a person. She knows Hinata's personal struggles and unlike her demanding father, Kurenai tries her best to coach Hinata in ways in which she knows her pupil will best respond. After Hinata was knocked down for the final time by Neji in the Chunin Exams, Kurenai silently congratulated her student's resolve and perseverance. By the end of Part I, she also fostered better relations with both her cousin, Neji, and her father and began training with the two of them.

Strengths:

Mental: When fueled by enough self-confidence, Hinata's competence shines. Frequently, this is when she's around Naruto or if it's for Naruto's benefit. One prime example for this is during that Three Tails filler arc. Hinata was chosen to be in the sealing team together with medic nins Shizune, Sakura and Ino because of her superb chakra control. At first, she was hesitant since she didn't undergo proper training as a medic but Naruto reassured her. In the end, she did the task with relative ease compared to Ino. She's also very hardworking and never stopped changing herself for the better. Hinata is seen to be very tactful and will usually think carefully before acting, a good attitude to have as a shinobi.

Emotional: Her strength of heart throughout the series is a notable trait. She might have cried a lot because she suffered from wavering self-worth but she never wallowed in her misery for long. Instead, she worked hard in improving herself with Naruto serving as inspiration. She never let go of this inspiration until it transformed into apparent undying devotion for him. This also shows us how loyal Hinata is and how she's willing to give everything both for herself and for the ones she loves. Evidently, these are what keep her going - her emotions.

Physical:

Byakugan: As a member of the Hyuuga clan, Hinata possesses the Byakugan, an ocular kekkei genkai which grants her x-ray vision, nearly 360° vision and the ability to see the chakra pathway system. Hinata can focus her Byakugan's sight to drastically increase its range in one direction, up to 10 kilometers. During the Search for the Bikochuu Arc, she was able to use her Byakugan to magnify and zoom, effectively seeing every small insect in the area. Using her Byakugan in a similar fashion, Hinata even accurately fired chakra needles at bees. In Part II, during her fight against Guren, Hinata demonstrates her mastery of her kekkei genkai; Hinata's Byakugan was at first overcome by Guren's crystal labyrinth, which refracted light to produce many duplicate images of herself. However, forcing herself to focus on her target allowed the Byakugan to function just enough for her to accurately see Guren's real chakra network and not the reflections. It was confirmed by Kakashi that Hinata can use her Byakugan to see through genjutsu, too, as he requested her to do so when they fought Tobi.

Gentle Fist: Hinata specialises in close-range, taijutsu combat. Her fighting style is the signature style of her clan, the Gentle Fist, which takes advantage of the Byakugan's ability to see opponent's chakra pathway system. It also allows her to cause severe internal trauma with minimal external force as it relies on surgical injection of chakra into an opponent's chakra network to cause damage. However, when Hinata is first introduced, she is considered weak by Hyuuga Hiashi's standards, being neither as strong nor as fast as Neji or her sister. In Part II, Hinata improved her taijutsu skills immensely and displays now a large variety of her clan's techniques. In the anime's Three-Tails Arc, Hinata performed the Eight Trigrams Thirty-Two Palms, a minor version of the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms, which she claims to had been working on during the time-skip, showing that her Byakugan can even see the tenketsu now. Hinata has also continued to develop her natural flexibility. This was shown while she was battling Nurari in the anime when she was able to dodge most of his attacks, despite the enemy's elastic body. When later fighting Pain in the anime, her attacks were strong enough to snap Pain's Chakra Disruption Blades that were restraining Naruto. In that circumstance she also displays the Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists technique, which much wasn't seen of in the manga but in the anime, she was able to strike Pain with it. She can also collaborate with Neji, using Eight Trigrams Empty Wall Palm, which is a variation of the Eight Trigrams Empty Palm.

Weaknesses:

Mental: Throughout the animanga, Hinata's evident shyness and lack of self-confidence are palpable. These two things are what generally hinder her into doing what she can do best as she often thinks she can't do them at first. Probably this is why Naruto thinks she's a hesitant, dark girl when they first met because she'd often retaliate or cry even before she could try something. She would often second guess herself and think she'd just fail in the end. The reason for these self-esteem issues was Hiashi giving up on her and deeming her a failure at such a young age.

Emotional: As this might be her strongest driving force, this is also one of her main weaknesses. For a ninja, Hinata's too kind and too gentle. Before, Neji considered this as a flaw. In a world where bloodshed and killing are apparent, these traits just won't do. Also, even if Hinata thinks carefully when acting, she also throws away her own self-preservation for the people she cares about and for anything that she feels is worth fighting for (like protecting Naruto from Pein and Neji from himself).

Physical: As the databooks imply, Hinata's speed is lacking. Enemies can usually dodge her attacks as it was obvious in her battles with Pein and Neji. Her Byakugan, too, has a small blind spot at the nape of one's neck which makes them susceptible to attacks from behind.
