I'm so starting to run on empty. Thankfully I don't have any homework tonight, at least no real homework that has to be turned in...it's all reading, which I will catch up on. I can't believe I've been so good at getting up in the mornings and getting to school. I had a few snags there about a week ago, trying to get my bearings with the blue line because that thing is beyond packed; I don't know if I've been getting to the platform at a good time or if CTA has increased the number of trains, but either way I've been getting to school at a fairly good time. I used to walk to school on Monroe, but now I've been walking down Madison. For some reason it feels faster when I go down Madison...OH and I have to remember to tell Kevin that I found that 7-11 I thought I saw when we went to the Taste of Chicago, but couldn't find afterwards. It's there...just not the right corner I thought it was on. Anyhow...
What did I do this weekend? Saturday I went to buy clothes to wear to my internship. Couple nice pants because the pants I had before got trashed working at UIC...so now I'm slowly but surely building up my grown up clothes section of my closet. Yay. I also bought a new book, which I shouldn't have because I have like two books I have to read before I get to it, but still...it's there...I had a coupon for 25% off so I couldn't say no. I finally finished Crime and Punishment and now I'm going to start reading Pushed. Kevin read it and raved about it and thinks I should read it...so I am...we'll see if I change my outlook. I'm not anticipating anything though. :oP After that I did laundry...a bunch of laundry...which reminds me...I still have a ton left to do. Yuck.
BUT...I finally went out with Susan and Shannon. It was good to get out. Went to Salt & Pepper Diner...I had a Turkey Pannini thing...it was okay...I've had better sandwiches. Talked about the present day and then high school. I can't believe how long ago that was. Jeebus. I'm old. It was pretty funny though remembering some stuff.
Sunday I went to Six Flags with Kevin. We went on quite a few rides, but I must say that by far...the worst one is Demon. That stupid ride beat me up. My head was bouncing between the harness, I hit my shin on the seat in front of me, I scraped and bruised my calf on the seat itself, my boob hurt, and I felt woozy when I got off. I'm getting too old for rides or something because I really did start to feel pretty weak after each ride. We finished the day at the 3D theater. They played a Marvin the Martian flick in 3D. I was pretty tired because I seriously dozed off for most of it. I remember bits and pieces. After wards though we went to Gurnee Mills. I finally got this jacket I wanted from H&M. I originally saw it at the H&M in Gurnee, but they didn't have my size so I went to the H&M on Michigan Ave. and the one on State St. As you can tell I really wanted this jacket, but yay I finally got it. Go me.
Fast forward to today. Today was my first day at the internship. I feel like this lady has a lot of expectations concerning me, but I addressed that with her today and she said not to worry that she understands I don't know most of this since I just started the paralegal program, but she has confidence in that I will learn it all and that she can see me being a lawyer. I told her that my dad would have appreciated that compliment. But yeah, I was bogged down with information today...how to do the basic stuff in the office check for faxes, voicemails, and e-mails all on-line...which isn't the difficult part. The difficult part is that she has different logins and passwords for all of this. I hope I wrote them all down correctly. :o/ After that we went to court, we were there for flippin' two hours...for reals. I was getting a sore butt from that seat. It was pretty interesting though seeing all these attorneys argue for their case the way that they would each give the same set of rules a different twist in their favor. Then we went to go file a petition...that place was a mad house and some of those clerks were real jerks. I guess they have to be to get things moving along, but still...it's going to be an adjustment for me. We went back to her office and she filled me on a few of the cases that she's currently working on. I was bombarded by names, places, issue, stages of litigation they're all currently in. My mind was reeling. Hopefully I absorbed something. It's exciting though because I think since she has this brilliant notion of who I man and what I can do that she's more willing to teach me stuff that she wouldn't necessarily teach others. At least that's the way she made it seem when comparing me to her other intern. She made her other intern seem kind of weak. She said she hired the other girl because it seems that no one else was giving her a chance. I wonder if she's saying the same thing about me to this other intern. :o/ Whatever. Doesn't matter. As long as I get something out of this internship...particularly a reference and experience, then I don't really care.
I got my homework back from last week. I got an Honors grade on it..sweet. We were supposed to read a case and then write a brief on it. I got 90%, which is Honors. They have this weird grading scale for us...90% or higher is Honors, 70% and higher is Passing, and anything below 70% is Failing. Weird. I don't really plan on working for Honors, but if I get it...then hey...go me! Haha. This other girl I know got a 70% on it. She said she did it the night before, which is probably true, but so did I. She makes it seem like she knows everything and that everything is easy to her, but apparently not. Oh well for her.
Okay, enough. Time for some T.V and hopefully going to bed earlier.
Night Fools.
