What's the appeal of televised poker?

I have a grudge against all forms, since NBC no longer repeats conan (weekdays), and SNL (on saturdays), so that they may bring us even more televised poker than one dv-r can withstand in a single week.

I wish I could explain to you the appeal of televised poker. I don't even play, and yet I'm obsessed with it beyond reason. I can name every player that shows up on TV by sight, and my dv-r is as you say bulging with episodes of WSOP, WPT, USPC, High Stakes Poker, Poker After Dark, and way too many more. I actually listen to Poker strategy podcasts, which is probably something that I should not admit to anyone. My roommate is so sick of it all I think he would like to cut my throat with a playing card.

I can say, though, that I'm not shedding a tear for those Conan and SNL repeats, sorry. :) A good hand of Poker beats pretty much anything on either of those shows.
