as my 43rd becomes more imminent by the hour, so a certain sense of melancholy grows... the days' plan to just stay home and get chores done early and then ensconce myself on the couch with a sketchbook were derailed early on by my own sense of duty to a friend in need, and the tenuous link to my muse was broken for the second time in under 24 ( Read more... )

Get let the muse out. Some faceless critic may not like it, you may not like it, but let it out anyway. It may be blocking something else, or the key and bridge to the next thing. You'll never know unless you let it out.

Hey now...birthdays are always a particularly dangerous time to go soul-spelunking. Aside from agreeing about pushing the muse out whether or not it wants to go, I think I can say that worrying about your family line is a whole bunch of unhelpful pressure. There's no way one person can shoulder the burden of generations! That's unrealistic. You need to do what's right for you at any given time. The trick is figuring out what that is...

In other news...what's new? How's your house? Your kitties? Your job? We should catch up!

apologies for taking so long to reply to your reply... yes, it is a dangerous time for soul-spelunking, yet i seem to end up there often on my birthday, whether i want to or not... and yes, we should catch up! my email is still the same, so feel free to drop me a line. unfortunately i do seem to have lost your email along the way...looking forward to hearing from you again... now i think i shall go let some random Muse have her way with me...
