So I've had a few sessions now with my anthropology course...luckily. The first day of class I discovered that there were only two students signed up for it, and I was the only one to show up for the day (besides the professor, of course). I was lucky in that UAF has a great comm masters program, but I know if I want to go further, I have to go elsewhere.

The class sounds fun! I'm trying to think how a comm class would approach conspiracy theories. Probably in dramatist terms of narrative reconstructions, discursive structures with internal justifications, co-created frameworks for reality. An interesting topic, for sure!

This semester, I'm developing a training manual for a local business and I'm doing a literature review on trolling culture and its impact on norms for politeness across social networks. I'm also studying a crazy methodological approach called Conversational Analysis, which I don't fully understand yet, but I'm going to use with an audio recording from one of my D&D sessions in an attempt to get at some of the ways our group is constituting friendship.

Grad school is a lot of fun in terms of the kind of options you have to direct your focus to whatever particular facet of the field fascinates you most. It's very rewarding, if demanding at times.
