You had a hard task set for you, because one of our Fellowship had to try taking the Ring from Frodo, or maybe he would never had fled and went on his way to Mordor and only the Valar know how things would have gone if the Fellowship had remained together. Maybe we would all be minions of the Dark Lord by now, and if we're not we owe it to you.
Thank you for the kind words, you always had a way of looking at things in another light. Someday, I will be able. Faramir assures me of that. Now, I spend my days trying to make amends for past deeds.
But it is good to know I have your forgiveness, my friend.
I sat at my desk and took out a fresh trimmed quill and stirred it into the inkwell. This was something I had been meaning to do for several times during the long year that had passed. Especially now when it came to writing this chapter of the Red Book. It was time perhaps. My Dearest Faramir. Neat well practiced letters stained dark against the parchment caused the corners of my lips to turn upwards. There was nothing like seeing a field of white broken by ink. If just the greetings sent to a friend.. A friend.. The thought took me by surprise. I paused as I looked at the name, and drew a line through it and started again. My Dearest Boromir
