"Kanetsugu-dono!" Yukimura skittered up, almost losing his sandals as he drew to a hasty stop, looking uncharacteristically worried.
"Yukimura? Is anything the matter?" Kanetsugu blinked at him.
There was a short pause as Yukimura caught his breath and flailed his hands around excitedly, the not-quite-perfect image of a samurai out of battle regalia. "Kanetsugu-dono, it is true that love conquers everything, yes?"
"Of course!" Kanetsugu beamed, reaching out to lay a friendly hand on Yukimura’s shoulder. "With love, it is possible to surmount all obstacles!"
Yukimura smiled at him, visibly relieved. "I knew you would say so, Kanetsugu-dono. Thank you for your help. If you'll excuse me, though, I must return to what I was doing." He ducked out of Kanetsugu's grip and scurried off hastily, the loosely belted edges of his crumpled yukata flapping almost indecently open.
Really, it wasn't like Yukimura to look so... disheveled. Mentally, Kanetsugu shrugged and returned to his book.
It was such a lovely, peaceful afternoon.
A few minutes later, there was the sound of a resounding crash, an injured howl and Mitsunari's distinctively outraged shriek. "I DON'T CARE WHAT HE SAID. THAT IS DEFINITELY NOT OKAY."
Kanetsugu winced.
