the clock's heart, it hangs inside its open chest

  • Tuesday was Santa Cruz slam, Wednesday was Berkeley slam, and then on Saturday I go back down to Santa Cruz until Monday for the KPP festival. Plus classes. I'm in a state of perpetual exhaustion ... but also, apparently, complete contentment. I feel like I'm finding my place ♥
  • CLASSES. What the hell. Introduction to Politics. oh my god. oh my god! My teacher is a crazy right-winger who's already talked about how Obama's a socialist and liberal professors and textbooks are indoctrinating students and holy bugfucking bajeezus he's insane. I am very afraid.

Magic, Witchcraft, and Religion in the Americas. This seems like it's going to be really interesting. The teacher's strict (50 points off if more than four absences oh god), but she seems to have a decent sense of humor. The final project involves writing a paper on any given religion and attending two services - neat.

Comparative Religions. It's ... very easy. haha. I took this last semester, actually, but ended up dropping out of, uh, philosophical incompatibility with the professor. But this semester it's taught by my Intro to Ethics teacher, which is great - she loves me and lets me get away with way too much, which is good, considering this is Santa Cruz slam night. Anyway, I don't even have to start studying until we reach Islam mid-semester.

Freshman English. I'm ... not sure what to think, honestly! I mean, on one hand, I really like the teacher: he spent the first hour and a half of class just getting to know us, which was pretty damn neat. On the other, though, he says he grades primarily on conciseness, which iiiiis not promising for me.

American Ethnic Cultures in Film. We get to see District 9. FUCK YEAH. Besides that, uh ... it's a film class. I fall asleep a lot.
  • So on Saturday I saw my new psychiatrist for the first time. It was pretty uneventful - I got a prescription for Lamictal, a promise to discuss anxiety/antidepressants next appointment after I've adjusted to the Lamictal, and a list of recommended psychologists (which is really the necessary component here). He's pretty boring, honestly, but he listened to what I was saying, and that's more than I can say for the last one. He has a dog named April at the office with him, and she's a total sweetheart. ♥

  • Just. I don't know. Things are really, really good right now! And I'm kind of expecting something catastrophic to happen at any moment, but for right now I'm very tired, and very happy. Things are good.
