Anita's Roundup Review Of The Bollywood Movies In 2011

Jan 08, 2012 17:11

You guys might remember last year when I did a roundup for all the 2010 Bollywood films. Well, I'm about to do it again, this time for the 2011 movies!

Though my thoughts are not quite as negative as my 2010 roundup they are also not as positive as my 2009 roundup. I was somewhat disappointed but not intensely so. But being the optimist that I am ( Read more... )

I have watched one movie on this list, and I'm sure you know which one it is. :D

RA.one had great potential. But I kinda hated shekhar. He was a bumbling idiot. Why couldn't he be a confident geek? There are plenty of those. I hate the Michael Jackson imitation, shekhar's intro scene, shekhar talking w his boss about making idli and dosa. Don't make him stupid. That's what disappointed me.

I've seen a bit of ZNMD. I liked what I saw.

Haha most definitely do. :D

Yeah I was not feeling Shekhar. As a South Indian I was like "wtf make fun of us fine but at least make it funny! :P" Haha. like "Mind It" in OSO was ~HILARIOUS~ my mom was dyyyiiiiiing but this just fell flat.

You should definitely check all of ZNMD out, I think. :)

Great round-up!

You know, I'm surprised but happy that you thought Mausam was one of the better films of the year. I totally agree! I don't think it deserved the ragging it got. The second half was long but I didn't mind.

Also!!! I think we agree on Rockstar!!!!! Your take on it is exactly why I didn't want to see it!

Thanks. :)

I like Mausam so much (especially in comparison to other films from this year) that I even bumped it up to recommendation status! ;) I thought the love story between Shahid and Sonam made sense (can't say the same for Rockstar oh man) and the progression of romance was there. Plus it was interesting how they incorporated different world events into their love story and the old-world styling was nice to see after so long. I definitely don't understand the hate one bit!

You would literally have died at how my family was bashing Rockstar I found THAT waaaaay more entertaining than anything the film itself had to offer. :P

I wish I could explain why I like it so much because I'm not even really sure myself so I can't tell if other people will like it or not LOL. But yeah...I'd love to see what you think of it actually, from a feminist viewpoint especially.

Will try to hook ya up at some point. :D

Understandable the movie is rather adult. If you don't mind that try watching The Dirty Picture on your own I really liked it. :) Glad I'm not missing much in Desi Boyz.

Mausam, The Dirty Picture
Still left to watch! I have NOKJ on my DVD watching list but ZNMD and 7KM I don't think I liked enough.

God, so agreed on Manu's lifelessness as a character. So weird! I pretty much like Maddy in every role. o_0

I need to see Dhobi Ghat! Eternally annoyed that the projector died when I had the chance to see it in London.

I'll probably check out Mausam and Dum Maaro Dum. And Dirty Picture when it's out on DVD - unless my friends wanna go see it in London and it's still playing.

I really hope everyone gets a chance to watch The Dirty Picture. :)

I know! The only other role I didn't like Maddy in was Teen Patti but his character was designed to be a douche. Don't understand why he was so lifeless as Manu... :/

Dhobi Ghat reminded me so much of a novel, it just has that feel about it.
