I thought it was good... BUT NOT AS GOOD AS MONONOKE OR HOWL OR SPIRITED AWAY OR TOTORO OR HOTARU NO HAKA

Yeah it wasnt as good as Hayo Miyazaki's creations, but it was better than the other works Goro Miyazaki created before this movie. Goro likes realism more than his father's genre, fantasy. :D

No matter how many times I watch it, the scene where the brother thinks about his sister always gets to me. It breaks anyone's heart to find out that the movie was based on a true story. ;_;

Hotaru no Haka is the only Ghibli film that made me cry rivers. TT^TT

(And I agree about Okada's voice not fitting Shun... I think he did better job voicing Umi's dad I think that was his voice anyway... and I hope that wasn't a spoiler. XDDDD)

Yeah I honestly couldn't get through Gedo Senki XD;

Glad I'm not the only one who was a bit bothered. It probably was because he has a more mature/older voice so Okada seemed to fit Umi's dad better.

I really liked this movie.
I love how it was filmed around everyday scenes. And the music is beautiful;
The story is lovely too.
