b) It makes a lot of sense to me. Zhores' cultural identity has to be incredibly complicated due to just how long he's spent in Germany, and I like how that puts his habit of languages into a more interesting context to me. Out of curiosity, if he'd been sent to a country with a less fraught history with him, do you think he'd have started identifying more?
b)Probably not. After everything Russia still is his homeland. It's just like say, being from a state with politics you hate and moving to another one. You still love your state and might even say "I'm an X-ian", but you're sure as hell not going to move back as long as things are screwed up there.
