I only worked 4-hour late-afternoon shifts at Measurement, Inc, so that didn't really drive me into the arms of coffee. It was the 60+ hour/week job in computer games a few years later that did it.
I think it was supergee who described my approach to coffee as "aspiring to the condition of desert"; the term I use is "beaten into submission with milk and sugar. I still use splenda--chlorine is *GOOD FOR YOU!*--and while I've enjoyed half-and-half, I use enough dairy in my coffee that I stick to skim milk rather than get all that extra fat.
