IN-PROGRESS, CURRENTLY. Note that this is a PRIMARILY COMIC version of Gideon, with little bits of inspiration from the movie here and there just to round things out a bit better. There is also heavy amounts of FANON involved in this survey, just because so little is actually canonically described about him.
Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
H'OKAY. This is a bit hard because we never really see a good height comparison of Gideon to the other characters, but. Ramona is assumed to be around 5'10'' and Gideon is almost as tall as her, as seen in this page. This put Gids at a height of around 5'9'' or so.
As for his build, it's pretty good. He's tall(ish) and toned-- washboard stomach, if that formfitting black t-shirt he wears in the comics is any indication. Lol.
2. How old is he?
31! Thank you, O'Malley, for this one bit of concrete info.
3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
Gideon is one cocky SOB. He carries himself very assuredly, and you can just tell from the way he carries himself he considers himself hot shit. The only time we ever really see him in a relaxed posture is in the flashbacks, when he was around Ramona.
4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
He seems to be in good health. He's definitely not out of shape and has no conditions or physical disabilities. His sanity and emotional state do seem to have taken some hits after Ramona left him, though.
5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
Gideon is the very eptiome of grace. Every movement is fluid and not a single movement is wasted. This makes him a slippery opponent in a fight, because he can move out of the way of blows with ridiculous ease.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
LOL WELL. I'm biased. I think he's pretty damn attractive. Coincidentally, so does he-- he's definitely very full of himself. He's also supposed to be sort of representative of hipster fashion--or something akin to it--, so he dresses well.
7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Normal. He's white, with no visible scars/moles/etc.
8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
His hair is black, and like all the characters in the graphic novels, its style changes. When first seen, it's a lot flatter and brushed down. When we finally see him in Volume 6, it's become a lot spikier and is brushed over to one side, partially obscuring the right side of his face.
And to be honest, he's probably the type of guy who spends a lot of time combing it in the morning until it looks juuuust right. He does pride himself on looking good.
9. What color are his eyes?
Dark brown... I think. Idefk there's only like one colored picture of him
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
He always wears thick black square-framed glasses. And uh, there are appear to be noticeable lines under his eyes. This is probably used as an artistic decision to depict his age (he's supposed to be like, almost ten years older than the other characters), but it probably also reflects the stress he felt after losing Ramona and trying to get her back. The dude works his ass off (at least in my fanon interpretation of him).
11. What are his chief tension centers?
Oh geeze TOTAL FANON ALERT. I would say the small of his back, just because he almost always seems to be standing upright, straight as a rod.
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
He dresses in black and white, with some grays added in there on occasion. His black shirt + white pants/dress coat + black square frame glasses is also an iconic look for a number of hipster archetypes. His shoes are usually fairly dressy-looking--something along the lines of saddle shoes. BASICALLY, his wardrobe is coordinated and at times fairly expensive-looking.

Yeah, they fit just fine. He's definitely comfortable in them, seeing as he can fight without hindrance in them, though near the end of Volume 6 he does shuck that pesky white dress coat. You know it's serious when he starts stripping.

He dresses similarly no matter the situation (that little bit of hipster fashion pervades his wardrobe) but when he's doing his own thing, he definitely dresses a bit more on the casual side. Fucking LOL. Well if this was movie version, we'd all know what goes here. But NO ONE KNOWS IT IS A MYSTERY for comic Gideon. I choose to believe he wears boxers, though.

Fanon alert, once again! I would say it changes depending on who he's talking with, but I would say that no matter who it always sounds at least a little insincere. Like, yeah, he'll be talking with you, but you can always tell that there's a little bit of something else to what he's saying.
I imagine he also has the ability to hit the other extremes, though; soft and kind when with Ramona, or menacing (maybe even sometimes a bit deranged) when fighting someone like Scott. Even then, though, he'll usually taunt before any darker tones come out.
2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
Easily. He's good with words, is definitely a charmer and a smooth-talker... even if it isn't always 100% sincere, as mentioned above.

Again, hard to say since we can't hear his voice in the comics. No real verbal tics, though he does tend to tauntingly use friendly terms with people he might be at odds with (such as calling Scott "buddy" when what he really means is "douche I wanna rung through with a sword").

English. Completely fluent. It's unknown if he knows any other languages, so I assume not.

Well, like I said. He's usually pretty mocking at first but when he realizes he's actually in dire straights, he has a tendency to become outright vicious with his words.

He could speak impromptu easily--in fact, now that I think about it, that's probably what 90% of his speaking is. I hardly picture him as the type of guy to labor over a speech or worry about the absolute perfect thing to say in a situation (unless he's with Ramona).

He definitely has the capacity to be eloquent, but his pattern of dialogue changes a lot depending on the situation. He can be either sarcastically formal ("And hair, people, my god. Please. I want you to build a bonfire in her hair. That is a metaphor."), taunting ("So what do you think of my lair of cool shit, buddy? You're the target market.") There's also the rare tender inflection ("You're not from around here. Your eyes... they've seen things."), but this seems to be reserved for Ramona. He's never inarticulate, though.

Gideon is ridiculously intelligent. He is descried as a genius and something of a mastermind, and he even invented a form of emotional warfare--the Glow-- by himself. He orchestrated many of the events leading up to Volume 6 and seems to be good at planning ahead. He had the whole encounter with Scott worked out before Scott even arrived to fight him--too bad things didn't go according to plan.
2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
Both. As mentioned before, if given the time he is quite capable of crafting far-reaching and rather in-depth plans, though he he can definitely make quick decisions to get himself out of jams if he needs to.

He's a mixture of both, but I'd say he leans towards logical and practical more than idealistic.

He got through college, but by no means was a star student. He didn't really care enough to apply himself beyond what was necessary for passing.

Well, he invented subspace and the Glow, so that would be what... sciences and human psychology? He probably has more expertise in the science department, and would be interested in learning more about emotions and how to control them so he can better manipulate people. He also is well-versed in business management, given his job as a music producer.

Introvert, though he will interact with those around him to keep up an appearance. He's definitely the type of guy that would appreciate time to himself, though.

It takes a lot to get him to blow his top, and even when he's pissed he'll seethe to himself rather than let someone see they've affected him (unless he wants them to know just how displeased he is). He'll seem relaxed on the outside, but on the inside he's trying to judge and evaluate people. He likes discovering who he can use to further his own goals... he's kind of manipulative like that.
