I(ndie)dol No Reply~

No Reply isn’t that known under foreign fans, but for an indie band, they’re quite famous to the point that they’re called ‘Indiedol’.
Also a lot of musicians expressed that they thought No Reply were the rookies of the year and praised especially their song writing skills.
No Reply consists of Kwon Sungwan(권순관, ’82) and Jung Wookjae(정욱재, ’84).
One of Sungwan’s nicknames is Sungwan-ong, ‘ong’ as a title for an older male (like ‘oppa’ just with more age difference) made by Wookjae, taken over by fans.
Sungwan is a fashionista. Of socks. Every time they perform he brings several pairs of socks and decides carefully which socks are fitting the best to his outfit.
He gets much recognition as a song and lyrics writer. Even though No Reply are working on their 2nd album now, he helps out his Seonbaes(!) with writing and composing.
Wookjae’s nickname is Goppdan. He chose the nickname himself as he once had a dog called ’goppdan’, but he became old and died in April 2009; from that time on Wookjae called himself goppdan.
Besides skateboarding and playing guitar, Wookjae loves nature. And protecting it. His major has to do with nature and his solo project ‘TUNE’ is also an ECO project. As TUNE he has an own homepage and released two music videos for ‘Beautiful Things, Disappearing Things (아름다운 것과 소멸되는 것’ and ‘freedom’. The next video for ‘달려가잖아’ is currently in the works.
He also produces for the 3rd Mintpaper compilation LIFE the duo Lala Sweet. And before he was in No Reply he was active as guitarist in F.O.R (Fake Of Reality) and released a digital single as 'Editud'.
No Reply made their debut during the 17th Yoo Jae Ha Music Competition, reaching silver with their song '뒤돌아 보다'. Fans also call them just 무플 (mupeul).
No Reply makes a kind of slow tempo, sensible pop, that sometimes can’t be right taken as ballad. More upbeat songs are 씨야 or Violet Suit (feat. Naru). Even though 그대 걷던 길 has been decided as the title song of the first album ‘Road’, it has been found that 끝나지 않은 노래 represents the album better and has a lot of fans. Thus 끝나지 않은 노래 appeared as a digital single again.
Another song someone should not miss is ‘조금씩 천천히 너에게’ feat. Taru. The song was featured in the 2nd Mintpaper compilation ‘man and woman… and stories’.
To my personal favourites from the album also count 'Road', '흐릿해져' and 'World':
With becoming an Indiedol, also their appearance changed a bit.
being the same age and having nearly the same interests Naru and WookJae are close friends :3
