Complicated and simple is exactly how I have found pickling over the years. And all the stuff about the lid popping. More from you please Mr Barrow! :)
This makes me nostalgic for something I didn't know I could be nostalgic about. I remember that popping sound every fall when my mom made applesauce. I can smell the apples and cinnamon now, in spite of the overpowering aroma of lemon marmalade.
It always blows my mind a little to think that lemons or oranges or any other citrus might just be growing on a tree in someone's yard. It seems exotic. 16 pounds of exotic!
