Distance and time should help to give some perspective on the situation. Either you realize that you're both terrible for each other in every way imaginable, or -- once separated for a time -- you find that you can put aside the intricacies of your former roommate-relationship and be actual friends again.

Either way, I humbly believe the change of situation to be for the better (even after my obvious bias).

It sucks, but give it time.
