One of the issues I have with Americans and Washingtonians in particular is this need to tell everyone around them what they are doing wrong or why they are doing you a favor by pointing this out.in the rudest possible way

Btw, you can always retort that as a working individual you are paying for her Earned Income Credit so she can have that tax credit for her children. Because, you of course, can make that assumption about her. ;)
