Happy non-denominational holiday, everyone!

I have to say, this has been the best Christmas (and it's only technically Christmas now, at 12 am) in many, many years... probably since I was in public school, anyway. I did my gift exchange with my friends and lover last night after work, which was so awesome. The gift list is as follows:

Scott:
-tickets to a play in January at the Grand Theatre (score!)
-Family Guy volume 1 DVD (double score!)
-white gold necklace with a diamond pendant (infinite score! it's so beautiful, I love it!!!)

Lorissa:
-pink party sweater (very cute!)
-fruity candle

Carrie:
-a book called Writing on Drugs (two of my favourite things combined in one glorious book!!)

Caitlin:
-Family Guy volume two (yeah!)
-poker themed silk tie (sexy!)

Jeff:
-Trivial Pursuit DVD Pop Culture edition (I'm gonna kick Scott's ass very soon!)

I think they all liked the gifts I gave them, and all was enjoyed with several shots of Jager. mmm, drunk.

today I woke up at 645, hangover free and worked till 1. came home, had Christmas dinner with my family and did our gift exchange, which yielded me clothes and movies and another Family Guy DVD (now I own all three, YEAH!) and Seinfeld and miscellaneous girly stuff. lots of socks too, which excited me a lot more than it should have (god, I'm getting old). Gwen and Gus came over for awhile which led to more gift exchange- they got me a bottle of wine, the fifth Harry Potter book (Gwen was very disappointed I haven't read it yet) and a pillow from San Diego which says "I <3 FUCKING". you have to understand my cousin to appreciate such a gift, I guess. more family came over shortly thereafter, which resulted in my youngest uncle who didn't have a single drink until he was 21 absolutely hammered and my usually drunk uncle completely sober. it was strange but at least it was the first Christmas Eve that didn't result in a fight.

I really needed tonight, I think, to connect again with who I was and who I've become. I miss the people who know me the best. I've been feeling really off lately and now I feel grounded and sane again, for now anyway. I loved giving everyone their gifts and receiving such wonderful gifts in return. it doesn't feel like Christmas but I'm happy nonetheless.

tomorrow I'm having dinner at Scott's house with his family and possibly poker on Boxing Day. could life get any better?

peace, love and empathy to all of you throughout the holiday season.
