Nothing mind blowing here today, but I must announce that finally after a year, I finished one of many projects I never got around to completing.
My House! do do do do d-..
I always wanted a Talky Tina. A Vogue Brikette doll was modified and used in the episode so I started off on Ebay. I got her for somewhere between $40-$50.
Then I ripped her head off.
And scalped her.
"Nothing compares to you" ...too bad it doesn't cry
The original Vogue doll comes as a redhead, and in blond, and rarely brown. Twilight Zone was in black and white, but she has to be brunette because the blond and red hair come off way too light in gray scale, and black would have had a darker contrast. So brown it is.
This was the part that I got stuck on. Over 1,000 little holes and each one needs a plug of hair. I bought $50 worth of brown hair, collected 4 hairs, folded them in half, tied a knot, and pulled it through 1 hole with a wire.. After a while I got bored, shoved it in a closet for a year and until 3 weeks ago, decided that I needed to finish.
I sewed a soft body, and an outfit. I'm pretty sure if Twilight Zone was in color, Talky Tina probably had a colored dress, but I made her dress in black and white because I knew it would bear more of a resemblance even in color.
Behold...
She does talk. I got her a voice recorder so right now she says "My name is Talky Tina and I don't think I like you". It was the only saying in the episode that was best to record. The other times had too much music going on in the background to record clearly.
People have been throwing blankets on her head and shoving her behind pillows so I had to move her upstairs in my room before someone thought of sticking her head in a vice.
What's funny is her eyes are very sensitive to motion, so if someone stomps too hard or they bump into where she's sitting she tends to do this..
I spent somewhere between $130-$150 total..now I know why I don't finish more of my projects, haha
