A bird wanting to fly

Seventh year is truly irritating. For all intents and purposes, I'm still a child, and yet my interests and acquaintances lie outside the school. It seems every Hogsmeade weekend it's a chance to open my wings and take a small flight for just a few hours, only to get back to the cage immediately. Sadly that doesn't console me; but I won't lie and deny there are seventh years who are holding onto their position in school like darling wolf cubs to their mother. Thank you for your words, Lucius. I hope work doesn't steal too much time from you.

That's right, you are still a child.

I would not be in such a hurry to grow up, given the chance over, I would take my time.

I am of age, Mr Rookwood. I will also be 18 soon, so I should be considered an adult. At least that's my belief.

Why do you feel that way? My first steps as an adult have been really fulfilling, I no longer have others make decisions for me. I realise that that's not always the case, of course. But you seem someone who turns against that kind of situation. I was very pleased to meet you.

Call me Augustus, Mr Rookwood sounds too much like my father.

You are not an adult. It would do well to remember it, Rosier. You are still young and have not seen many things.

I am only wary that you and your peers are overconfident. Your weaknesses are your greatest ally, know them well.

Augustus is it, then. And I prefer Evan, for the very same reason.

I admit you're right in assuming I haven't seen the same things you've seen yet, but I'll change that.

Your words are so cold, Augustus! But I find that interesting. It seems rather hard to find a way to discourage me at this point, however.
