The hallways of Wolfram and Hart were a bit overwhelming Giles noticed as he moved through them. He'd already seen several species of demons, and had to push his Watcher training aside and not kill them. He understood some of them were clients and he wasn't there to cause problems. Even though he wanted to.
Giles still didn't understand why Angel, and the rest of them, had taken this job. He knew the firm had been a thorn in their sides for years and it just didn't make any sense for them to take over the enemies' playground. Yet, despite all of his misgivings, he was still there and walking toward the science lab.
Fred had called Willow days before, announcing that Spike was still alive. It'd been a shock to all of them, considering Spike had been engulfed in a rather large fire - at least according to Buffy. It had been the amulet he was wearing, it caused Giles to become concerned. So when Willow told him she couldn't go, he decided to make the trip to Los Angeles, figuring it might be something worth researching.
When he got to the lab, he was greeted by Fred. Willow had told him about the scientist, and everything Willow had said was right. Fred was quite talkative and it took Giles a good ten minutes to pull her back to the subject at hand since it seemed all she wanted to talk about was what happened in Sunnydale.
Fred ended up handing him a few files on what she'd found out about Spike and the amulet so far. He tried hard to balance them in his arms the best he could. There was a lot of go over and he was glad he'd decided to get a hotel room for a few nights.
"Wesley has the rest of the files," Fred said, looking over at Giles. "You know Wesley, right?"
Giles owlishly blinked his eyes. Wesley was there? He hadn't seen him since…since he left without saying a word. Taking a deep breath, he looked down at the floor. Of course Wesley was there. After all, it would seem Angel and he were practically joined at the hip nowadays.
He didn't want to see Wesley. Not now, not ever. Giles knew he still cared about him but it'd been too long since they'd seen each other and knowing Wesley would willingly come to the firm… he just didn't want to see him. Still, he knew he had to if he was going to figure out the amulet. A short visit to get the files wouldn't kill him.
"Where's Wesley's office?" Giles finally asked.
Fred wrote the directions down and handed them to him. With a small 'thank you', Giles left the lab and followed Fred's directions. When he came upon Wesley's door it was cracked open. Giles' arms were full and he couldn't knock so he pushed the door open with his foot.
"Wesley."
