The Problems of Cross Culture

I love cross culture - it is great to speak with people from America and other countries all the time. There are however a few things that confuse me, which seem general knowledge to people who live in the USA.

1) What are the rating systems in America? Over here "R' rated means only people over eighteen are allowed to watch them and they are most ( Read more... )

Well, I'm not American but I can answer some of your questions.

R is 17+.

I'm not sure about ages, but I know high school starts in year 9 (freshman year).

I think college placemements are determined on SAT scores and the SAT is in year 11? *could be wrong*

I'm definitely certain on the first one though. Unless someone proves me wrong, that is...

I'm not American either (Wohoo Sweden), but I think I can answer your High School question.

14 would be the age they start Freshman year if I haven't gotten it copletly wrong.

American here!

1. Try this: MPAA Ratings -- it'll answer all your American movie ratings.

2. The "norm" is but it really depends on the state/district you live in:

Pre-K: 3 - 4 years of age
Kindergarden: 5 years of age
Elementary: 6 - 11 or 6 - 10 years of age [depending on the district/state you live in - see Middle School v. Junior HighMiddle School: 11 - 13 years of age ( ... )
