The first time was New Mexico, 2012. The casita sat at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, north of Taos. I rented it for the week and arrived early on a November evening. The sun was already beginning to dip low on the western horizon and the place glowed that very particular shade of pinky-orange, a slash of neon looking like a crack in ( Read more... )

Thoughtful story. Is / was your birthday really Nov. 14 or was that just for the date you wrote or posted this? If so, Happy birthday!

Your New Mexico trip sounds wonderful, but if I tried to tackle London, even with a map, I would still be lost. I would go left, when left would be the only direction that wouldn't take me where I wanted to go. Like the others, I am curious about what happened - did you burn the bed? Wear colorful clothes? Nosy minds want to know.

New Mexico was wonderful. I've always felt some kind of connection to that place and I love it every time I get the chance to visit.

I didn't burn the bed. Seemed...dramatic. I let him take the furniture. I just kept on wearing whatever I wanted to.
