I hopped on here today to post an exciting bit of real-world news, and suddenly realized that I hadn't even seen my Friends page for nearly a month. Ayup, almost all of September has come and gone without my paying attention.
Ok, ok -- all of it is my fault. The fact is I have become a Facebook whore. Not for posting day-to-day life . . . hell, who would use that thing to post anything? hehehe I use and abuse it for the games! Time sinks one and all, and since I'm unemployed right now I have a lot of time to sink.
Also, I've been using the time to work on my novel, cleaning it up and straighting it out enough so someone besides me would want to read it. I should have taken it as a clue that it needs editing when I discovered none of my friends want to see/read it, and the one friend I actually paid to read it stopped talking to me right after and never gave me any feedback on it. Wow! Coming soon to a bookstore reject bin near you. Order now!!
Oh, the real-life news? In the rural lil mountain valley I live in, there are two sides to the road. The valley wall side across the creek, and the houses side where all the people live. My neighbors house caught fire today/early morning and there were a bazillion firetrucks, EMT's, ambulances, police cars, what have you outside when I woke up this afternoon. ( Yes, I said afternoon. Don't question it. ) It was quite the exciting moment, since the owner of the house is an old friend of mine from our youth in the local church. Fortunately, no one was home and the house wasn't engulfed. Just the whole upstairs interior was destroyed, and a lot of windows were broken out. It's pretty much a disaster, and as they say "There but for the grace of God go I." The finger of bad luck touched down today and amazingly enough missed me for once. :D
