I adored this! Definitely my headcanon now, because I'm pretty sure that the real episode can't top this. There were too many details that I loved to list, but I loved how you mixed sweet with funny and angsty moments without overloading the main plot. I already know I'm going to reread this a few times before the xmas episode.

The second I finished this, I scrolled back to the top and started reading again. This was so gorgeous; a perfect blend of love and reconciliation, a tinge of melancholy and so much hope. I love that this story was told through Burt's POV, and I can't say enough about your take on his voice. His love for his son comes through so clearly, and I found myself getting emotional as I saw, through his eyes, his recognition that his child was an adult. There is a beautiful juxtaposition between past and future, and between holding on to the good in life and letting of the bad.

I hope that whatever RIB may choose to do with the canon is even half as nuanced and emotionally resonant as this.
