The lack of any kind of response... good or bad... is really disheartening.

So, we are going to be on a temp pause, and hopefully revamp everything... If that doesnt work, then I dont know what will.

If you have any suggestions... please let us know!

I feel like I should respond, even though I don't quite know what to say. I don't think there was anything specifically wrong with the first issue. The poetry is wasted on me, so I can't comment on that, the art was good but not terribly inspiring either. I don't remember, did you include profiles of the artists at all? Or links to more of their work? But basically, imo, you probably just need to get more people aware of what you're doing, expand your readership through promotion. Branch out, reach out from MySpace and Facebook as well as LJ, if you haven't already. You'll find your rhythm, but it will take time and effort. You may be at issue 12 or later before interest really picks up, and it might not have anything to do with quality or content, but about intense competition for eyeballs. At this point you need to be doing it out of love for yourself, and to hell with what anybody other than your team thinks. Good luck!

Thanks :]

And we are currently reworking it to more of how I originally wanted, so it will basically be just for us for now. But we would like to keep it between the livejournal community. Forget Myspace and Facebook. Personally, I think they are a waste of time.

Thanks for the :}

Ok. I downloaded it again to refresh my memory. And I think the main problem is the format. It's a big download for not a lot of content. And I know several people who can't open power point files at all, so you may be having some problems there. My suggestion would be to have a separate livejournal page for your content, and post the whole magazine there under an LJ cut. Then your LiveJournal audience won't have to do anything different than they're doing now: Viewing their friends page. Ease of access is key!

I agree with you, I think the powerpoint was a silly idea. So we are currently working on a project that will allow it to be read just like a magazine right on a post... if it all works out right.

But thank you so much for your input :] Its very helpful

Okay, since it's been quite hectic, I just finally got around to reading the first issue, I think it's great for a debut issue. I like the layout, it is pretty neat and clean (which is what all mags should be). I think the lack of comment/responses is primarily due to lack of promotion. =) i am not exactly experienced in this expertise, but i had a brief stint with it (since i was helping my friend with her site). so i will just give some input of my own ^^" but i think word of mouth is great for these sort of thing, and if you want the community to be exposed to more people, you can try to affiliate with similar livejournal communities (in terms of content), it doesn't have to be the same (magazine), you could try lj communities that are more inclined to the arts and literature. i think there are a few, but i am not sure if they are open for affiliations. and i agree with zenmonkeyman on the file being too big and not as accessible thus making it not as effective. if you need help with promotion and stuffs, i would love to offer my help, but i ( ... )

I don't know if you're still looking for help, but I'm willing to offer my assistance. I've been looking for something to post my stuff on without it getting looked over or having random people feel the need to add me because of it.

I think this is a marvelous idea and I'd love to help out where I can.

Oh gosh! Yes we are currently trying to restart this and would love any help we can get :]

Um, drop me an email (girllacksdesign@aol.com) and we can get everything sorted out.

First, it would be really great if you would kindly check out the posts (how to submit work) and (want to help with WDS?) and read the comments. A ton of things were decided in those messages, and I think it would help to have everyone on the same page.

Mk, thanks! :D
