Colors of the Rainknot

Today, as is fairly frequent whenever I visit my parents, I got pulled into working at their office for a bit.  I've worked there on and off since I was a kid, and one of their receptionists had called in sick, so could I maybe...? Actually, I don't arrange my books by color, but I do tend to primarily think about their color (and general edge-binding configuration) when trying to locate one. Although I do have something of a book-arrangement system, I've had a few different ones over the course of time, and I tend to actually find books by overlapping my knowledge of the general part of my bookshelf they should be on and my knowledge of what they look like end-on.

Ah, see, I frequently don't have my books even on the shelf, so if I remember covers, it's often because they've been piled next to my bed or have been sitting in a mess beside my desk.

Oh, I have those too! But I'm a Classics grad student. That means I have a lot of books. If they were all off the shelf, I'd have no bedroom, living room, kitchen, or garage. (As it is, I have no bedroom. That's from all the papers and half the books that aren't on the shelves.)

Yeah, The Boyfriend's papers are slowly taking over the living room and office. The sad part is, I don't think even he knows where the physics ends and the music begins; it's all scattered throughout in these crazy, sad, little mishmashs of paper.

That looks so cool. My books generally aren't even organized at all. Which is sort of sad.

My books are "organized", insofar as I had some kind of system in place when I first arranged them. I think that in reality, the books are so wildly out of place, it's a miracle I even remember where they're supposed to be.
