Don't Cry Over...

The saying calls for "spilt milk", but in my case, I think I'm going to substitute "spoiled milk". Admittedly, I'm not the most fastidious of cooks.  I've picked up and cooked with things I've dropped on the floor by accident and used eggs that were days, even weeks past the "expiration date" (haven't died yet!), but I'm usually pretty wary about ( Read more... )

I don't really drink milk very often, since I'm lactose intolerant, but the boys'll want milk every once in awhile, or I'll buy some to bake with. I try to use it up well before the expiration date, but they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

I added rice milk to something the other day. and the rice milk was... well, it wasn't liquid. luckily not much had been added, but it wasn't the right texture to remove. luckily, dinner was fine ^_^ it was still within its use by date...

I don't think rice milk goes bad in quite the same way cows milk does, but I don't really know. I'm glad dinner wasn't ruined though! I remember my mother telling me an awful story involving some unfortunate flour, but I don't think I should repeat that ever again. Best to protect our stomach from any dry heaves.

your icon - is it from gaiaonline?

I tend to avoid milk (being lactose intolerant). but yeah. off milk is something totally revolting.

My icon is from Gaia Online, but I've never played. I just found the avatar maker and thought it was too fun to pass up. As for off milk, yeah, not fun.

It looks like your earlier post put you in the mood for pudding of some sort? Sorry your milk had turned. I bake (or make cooked desserts) so infrequently that I don't think I've ever really run into that problem. I'm usually just drinking it in cereal or chocolate milk that close to expiration.

I hope you can make another batch of the rice pudding and that it turns out wonderfully. :)

Oh, I'm sure the pudding talk affected me subconsciously, but mainly I was trying to think of a way to get rid of the milk without having to drink it (since I don't generally drink milk). But not to fret, for I'm sure my next batch will turn out gloriously.

It's funny because I'll have milk in cereal and I'll drink it as chocolate milk but I won't drink plain milk. I used to, when I was younger, but a whole glass of unadulterated milk is not something I'm fond of. :)
