magazines...

I want fashion magazines to cut up and use for collage and things like that.

But I don't want to spend $6 an issue to buy new ones.

Does anyone have any ideas?  It looks like I can get cheap subscriptions on eBay, which might be clever... I don't mind paying $4 for 6 issues...

Many of the libraries I go to will give away/sell cheaply old magazines, esp non-academic/scholarly ones. Maybe calling your local library and asking what they do with their old fashion magazines?

This is what I was going to say. Our local library has a table where anyone can drop off old magazines and they're free for the taking, too.

Alas, I asked at the library today, and they said they don't offer old magazines to the public. Of course there are a lot of other libraries in the area, so it's probably worth my time to ask around a bit more...

I've been to some consignment shops and have seen piles of old magazines for sale at a cheap rate. That might be another option to look into...

Hmmm, I threw out a lot of old mags recently but if you were interested could save them up and send to you. Not sure how expensive that would be though. Also they tend to be more health-related than fashion-related but still have fashion in them.

Thank you for the offer! But I think the shipping would probably be too expensive. I was looking around on eBay to see if I could get magazines there and discovered that it's really expensive to ship them even inside the US, because they're so heavy...

I think I'm going to look at thrift stores around here and consignment shops and also see if I can find any cheap subscription postcards... and I did give in and spend $4 to subscribe to a bridal magazine (via eBay) because they have the most amazing ads...

flip through those glossy pages at the toowelllit stores
there are postcards that will give you papercuts
and, with luck, $1 an issue

That is extremely clever! I hate the stores like that, but oh it's a good cause to go into one...
