Title: Guardian Angels are Fuckin' Stupid
Characters: Luke fon Fabre, Guy Cecil
Notes: Done after a little push from anonymous friends. For the past seven years Luke fon Fabre has always felt a pair of eyes watching him. He didn't know who, or what, they belonged to, but it had grown into an almost uncomfortable-comfort knowing someone was watching out for him.
The past seven years had been a huge blurr to Luke. A mix of relearning things he had supposedly learned already, of a promise he never remembered making, remeeting people he'd apparently met and loved before, and of someone watching him constantly. It was just a feeling, one that was easily shrugged off as one too many horror stories from Guy. Still, it was kind of creepy. Especially when he was alone and the entire world was silent, Pierre on the other side of the mansion tending to the gardens, Guy out buying things, Master Van talking with his parents... The maids weren't much company and it was totally boring just sitting on his bed all day. So despite the odd feelings he constantly had about being outside, Luke hopped out his usual window and walked past a set of unguarded gates.
Anything was better than being inside that boring, stuffy house.
The feeling wasn't any better this time, probably even worse than some of the other times he'd felt the seemingly hateful stare burning into his back. Whatever, he couldn't do anything that bad to someone to make them hate him... Right? When he was younger, he tried asking Master Van and Guy about the weird feeling but they gave vague responses, the blond saying something about how growing boys have those sort of feelings when they're alone and Master Van had told him it was all of his imagination. Even though he respected them both, those were bullshit answers. Especially Guy's.
But today he was feeling adventurous. Braver than those soldiers in that war seven years ago! So this time, as Luke climbed up his usual tree, he looked around for the source of the paranoid feeling he felt. He thought he located it, but throwing a stick into the bush only made a rabbit run out. Maybe it was his mind playing tricks on him. For the last seven freakin' years. He really doubted it, but he shrugged off the feeling and laid against the tree in a relaxed manner.
And that's when it struck him. Not a rock or anything, nothing physical because if it was people would get hurt by him if they tried, but another headache. He only had the chance to yell "Oh fuck!" before losing his balance on the branch and falling onto the ground far below, vision blurred and mind muddled as he thought he saw a figure slink towards him. He weakly tried to push himself up, his head pounding as an unheard voice echoed through his mind, and finally he slumped back to the ground, blacking out.
The headache was gone when pushed himself upward on the soft material and opened his eyes, recognizing his room. He groaned slightly and laid back down, feigning sleep as the door opened and a maid came in to check on him. As soon as she left, the door clicking softly behind her, Luke slipped out of the comfortable bed and stretched, trying to recall the figure he had seen before losing consciousness.
"Ah, the young master Luke is finally awake."
The said teen looked over at the window where his friend Guy climbed into the room from, rolling his eyes.
"I told you, I'm just Luke! Man, it was so relaxing out there until that stupid headache came again."Guy's eyes narrowed a bit, checking his friend over for any sign of injury.
"You fainted?"
This time it was Luke's turn to narrow his eyes and study his friend.
"Yeah, weren't you the one who found me?"
Guy shook his head, partly becuase of disbelief and part in answer to the question.
"No, the maids told me you had come in by yourself and gone to lay down for a nap. I admit I thought it was a bit weird for you to take a nap when it's so nice outside and Van's around, but I just thought you were tired."
Luke was honestly surprised. If Guy wasn't the shadow he'd seen, then... Who?
"Well whatever, whoever it was did a half-assed job of getting me back in if people thought that I got back in myself. The pillow wasn't even properly fluffed!"
All Guy can do is laugh at the other's huff of discomfort and give him a pat on the back.
"Maybe it was your guardian angel. I hear they can do some pretty amazing stuff."
"I don't believe in that sort of thing, Guy, it's all for children."
Guy claps him on the back and opens the door as he steers Luke out.
"Your mother wants to see you, young master Luke, so don't keep her waiting!"
He grumbles and pushes Guy's arm away, though the soft spot for his mom makes him go to her room for whatever chatting she wants to do, even if it's just murmers of how she was sorry she let him be taken and how hard it must be for him to live a life with no memories. Even if he couldn't remember anything before seven years ago, he'll listen to her and comfort her in that uncaring way of his, to let her know it's fine and not to worry about him anymore. After all, if Guy was right, then he had a stupid guardian angel watching over him.
