It's been a week since the closing date, and I'm on pins and needles. I haven't gotten a call yet. My dad says not to start worrying until late next week. I dunno, on the one hand I would think that if the start date for the position was June 1st, then they'd want to get moving with interviews and stuff as soon as possible. But on the other ( Read more... )

I agree with your "how could the NOT interview me," but at the same time be really prepared for that because there are quite a few jobs that I was really really qualified for as opposed to just "yeah, I can do that" and I never heard back from them. (also, I think sometimes when they have an excess of highly well qualified applicants they use superficial things to weed out people- at least that's what I've had to tell myself since I've not gotten any interviews really.) But I think since you have the curator looking out for you, I think your chances are good. So don't really worry. Ann is on your side it seems, which I think is half the battle!

Wow, this was not a particularly uplifting comment. Sorry :/

You're over thinking this. Whether you get an interview or not is 90+% down to luck. Having someone there who's on your side is useful but no guarantee- she might get sick or go on holiday or just get tied up with other things.

So don't stress about it, just move onto the next application and forget about this one for a while. Companies often take weeks or months to get to the interview stage, not hearing from them yet doesn't mean anything.

Good luck,
Jon

I agree with Jon. Plus, she might not have anything to do with the interviewing process.

We got over 100 people applying for my job in the first two weeks that we put it up, and we got about five people out of it that we wanted to interview. Not because all of them weren't qualified (though some weren't) but we had to narrow it down somehow, you know? We were really nitpicky about the details.

So, you had someone go over your application for you, you had someone ask you if you were going to apply. I would relax, then on Tuesday or so write Ann an email that mentions it very casually, like, is there any movement on the job I applied for last week? kind of thing.
