I dunno if I see getting involved in things in Sac as "giving in/ giving up" but more of "oh my god, I have to fucking occupy myself." Plus, you can always just quit when you have to move away. It's just something to do in the meantime. Applications do take up tons of time, but I don't see why you can't do both. You can't do EVERYTHING you'd want to get involved in, but you can certainly do something
( ... )
Who knows? I'm saving my money, and may eventually just up and move somewhere with a higher concentration of museum and galleries, and that area is tempting because I have so many friends settled there now. Also, will definitely be making a visit sometime in the future (not sure how far into the future) because my best friend just got a job in Richmond VA. In which case we will definitely be hanging out.
Try looking at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, I think they have a contemporary wing and they're undergoing a HUGE construction project where they're closed to the public until March 2010. Maybe they have some openings. Plus, even though I've not explored a whole lot, I kind of really like Richmond already, so it's not a totally craptacular town like Albany or Detroit or Modesto or something.
