Thanks for the dog hair

Jun 09, 2008 10:04

Today as she sleeps in a little ball, I see hair covering her back knees, a bit thin, but no bare knee. After two months of bare knees, and trying 3 different dog foods and salmon oil, I am grateful for some hair growth. Her tail is also starting to fill out again. Perhaps tomorrow I will not be grateful as the hair sheds and covers my floor.

Dog fur! Definitely a mixed blessing.

Yeah wanted on the dog, but not on the floor. Impossible.

How did you acquire the new kinds of dog food? Did you have to buy new bags of each or can they send you samplers?

I bought 3 full bags, because unless something goes wrong, you feed for 2 months to do a full food trial. For the first bag, it was obvious it wasn't working after she developed yeast ear infections in both ears. Yeast is in the dog food itself, so just not a good combo. For the second, I used the bag entirely, so a full food trial. The food was okay in that she didn't develop another infection, but she still had seasonal allergy flareups and her fur got thin and she seemed to still have yeast elsewhere. I just started my third bag.

Yikes. That's hard. I wish you two the best of luck. Please do let us know what food eventually works out the best!!
