Canon history:
Yay for Wikia!AU history: Ever since Aqua was a young girl, her parents knew there was something special about her, be it her bright smile or her warm and caring heart. Up until she was five years old, she lived with her family. That is, until one day a man by the named of Eraqus approached them, telling them he sensed a powerful light within her heart. He told her family that with training Aqua could become a great Master one day. Though her family was apprehensive about letting their child go, Eraqus assured them it was for the best; however, he promised little Aqua could visit her family from time to time. Wanting the best for their daughter, Aqua was sent to live with Eraqus in a far off town called the Land of Departure. It was there she met another young pupil by the name of Terra. It took a while, but she eventually befriended him.
For the next few years, she trained under Master Eraqus, coming to love and respect him like a father. Under his tutelage, she learned many things such as magic and how to battle with her keyblade. The Master also made sure his pupils also had normal schooling as well; on the days that they weren't training they were sitting in the library, doing chemistry homework and other such things.
During the holiday season, Aqua returned home to her family. This tradition continued until she was about ten. It was then she received news that her family...was gone. There wasn't a single trace of them, as though her parents had vanished into thin air. This greatly upset the little girl, but Eraqus and Terra comforted her and helped her get through the difficult time. Due to losing her parents, her bonds with the Master and Terra grew stronger. While she had lost one family, she still had another with Master Eraqus and Terra. She would do anything to protect this smaller, new family.
When she was about fourteen, a new person entered her family: a boy by the name of Ven. Another keyblade Master, Xehanort, brought the blond boy in. Though it took a while for him to open up to her, she eventually developed a strong bond with Ven as well. She viewed him as the younger brother in her little “family”.
When she reached the age of sixteen, she and Terra took the Mark of Mastery exam. On the night before the exam, she gave both Terra and Ven charms that she "worked a little magic" on. The charms were made to resemble a star shaped fruit based on a mystical legend:should anyone make and share them, they would have an unbreakable connection. Aqua made these charms for them to make sure they would always remain friends. After bequeathing the gifts, a round of sparing, and a few hours hanging out, they all went to bed.
The next day marked the Mastery exam (no pun intended). She thought for sure that she and Terra would make it, but to her surprise, she was the only one who passed. The young woman wanted to comfort her friend, but Master Eraqus gave her a mission immediately, sending her off before she had a chance to sit down and speak with him. She was able say goodbye to her friends, but promised to return. For the next few months, she traveled to the other lands; for although she had proven herself to be a Master in front of Eraqus. she had prove herself to be a Master to the real world.
During her travels, she grew stronger, but something was off. For a while she thought it was homesickness, but soon realized out it wasn’t. She learned of the Black Mist and quickly returned to inform Master Eraqus of its existence. However, when she went back she found her home was no more. The Black Mist had claimed it...and possibly her family. It was then she stumbled across an invitation to the Academy. Hopefully, Terra, Ven, and Master Eraqus would be there...they were too strong to let the Black Mist get to them, or so she told herself.
As time went by in the Academy, Aqua made a few friends. Eventually, Terra showed up and while the two remained close, their relationship changed. They shared a kiss and though she was willing to work through those new feelings with Terra, he suddenly departed, leaving his goodbyes in a note. He created something of a hole in her heart. He didn't even manage to her a proper goodbye. With a heavy heart, she trudged through the final weeks before the Mist came and settled over the school.
Personality: Aqua is the mild and responsible person out of her group of friends. Instead of rushing into something, she'll be the one to plan ahead and make sure all of the bases are covered. Plus, if she's given instructions on what to do, she makes sure she does a thorough job of following through. However, if those instructions involve something sinister, she won't go through with them. Her strong heart makes it nearly impossible for others to sway her from her from her morals.
Though, that isn't to say that her strong heart doesn't have a weakness or two. Her friends are her heart, essentially. If her friends are in danger, she will risk her life to safe them without hesitation. Similarly, if someone bad-mouths a friend of hers, she will stand up and tell them to 'shut up'. Insulting a friend is a good way of upsetting her (or using her things without her permission).
When she's with her friends, she falls into the category of “good listener and speaker”. She'll listen when someone has a problem and speak when she's entirely sure they're done talking. She has a high level of patience, so she won't force a conversation unless she really feels she needs to; for example, she would do so if a friend is silently hurting. Sometimes she’ll act mother-ish in that she'll sit there patently and quietly, hugging her friend. If they need to be offered advice, she’ll give it; all the while, she won't leave their side until she's sure they're completely okay. These skills it makes it easy for her to handle children.
Basically, she's a kind young woman who would do anything to protect her friends. Even though she's a Master, she doesn't see herself as one. She's modest, humble, and like other girls, she gets embarrassed when someone expresses interest in her. If she's asked out on a date she'll shy away from it. Considering she grew up around Ven and Terra, she never thought about getting any sort of relationship of that caliber. So in the aspect of relationships, she's a tomboy and has no idea how a girl should react when a guy asks her out.
Another personality trait of hers is that she doesn't like troubling people with her problems. If she's not having that great of a day, she'll go into the library or her room to pull herself out of her own funk. If other people notice she'll tell them it's nothing. The only times she'll break her silence about her true feelings would be to the person persistent enough or to a close friend she knows she can trust.
On the battlefield she's a tricky little thing. She's agile, making her a hard target to hit. Her physical strength is the weakest out of Ven and Terra, which is why she uses her magic for defense and offense. Though, she doesn't completely rely on her magic, as she finds a balance between itand using her full strength; which, when combined, makes her a very powerful opponent.
Greatest Fear: Above everything else, her greatest fear is the loss of those closest to her and being powerless to stop it. Aqua was trained to be a Master of the keyblade, something she has now accomplished. The whole point of her training was to not just defend the weak, but to defend those close to her. If she can't even do that, then by her standards she doesn't deserve to have the title of Master.
This isn't limited to physical harm, but mental/emotional too. The other part of her fear is that of romantic relationships going south and losing a friend. Should she gain any other feelings for her friends that are outside the realms of friendship, she won't act on them. In dating a friend, the relationship changes, be it for the better or for the worst. This seemed to be the case with Terra. They had a great friendship that came to be something else and it ended badly. Now she feels that their relationship is strained. It's from this experience that she'll never again fall for a friend. It's not just for their sake, but her own.
Has your character been at the Academy before/ does your character remembering being at the Academy before?: Yes, she was a college freshman there and now is a sophomore.
What are you plans with this character?: For her to develop new relationships with people and face her fear. I feel she'd be a great addition to the cast and ever academy needs their residential tomboy! Aqua fits that image perfectly!
Previous players with returning characters from
disney_academy only:
How has the Black Mist affected your character’s memory, if at all?: Yup, it has. For starters, she won't remember Terra ever having a twin brother, Xehanort, or that the twin had children (Xion and Riku-replica). For the time that the Mist had her, she'll believe that she was on a island for months where the plants, water, and everything there appeared dead or lifeless. Her memories of Sora, Roxas, Kairi, Xigbar, and Zexion will be very fuzzy. Should they come to the Academy, she'll get the feeling she's met some of them before, but that's it.
Are there any noteworthy events that happened to your character in the previous game?: There's some small noteworthy events. She was part of two rescue missions to save Zexion and Xehanort, though she won't recall them.
Terra and she shared a kiss and the beginnings of a relationship. However, his sudden and stoic departure troubled her greatly, but she won't admit it out loud. She'll go on pretending it didn't happen to save their friendship--should she ever see him again. With Terra gone, she turned to Axel simply because he was the only other guy she could connect with; that being said, she only viewed him as a friend.
♠ Writing
Third person writing sample:
Aqua didn't know how it happened. She first heard the screams and terror... only then did she see the encroaching darkness that swallowed the Academy like a hungry beast. People were running, screaming, trying to seek shelter, and then suddenly it was quiet. The time between the sudden cacophony and where she ended up was a blank.
Did she seek the others out? Did she try to protect them? Did she try to fight against the Mist? Did she do everything within her power to stop or delay the inevitable? No matter how many times she tried to remember, her mind came up blank. Was the memory too painful? Did she sit there and gawk and the demonic Black Mist as it took away everything? No matter how badly she wanted to remember, she couldn't.
It truly was a low point for the blue-haired woman. How could she be a keyblade Master if she couldn't do anything for those she had come to know and befriend? Would Master Eraqus have done anything different?
Terra...Ven...
If they were given the title, could they have stopped this? As her thoughts drifted over to her friends, Aqua couldn't help but curl in further. What they think of her now? Better yet...were they even alive?
She was curled up on what she thought was cold sand, but the ground proved to be firmer. Her eyes fluttered open, expecting to see a world with muted colors. She thought she had been living on a deserted island for a long while. In the place where the sun rose and set, but all the days flowed into the one another. It was an island that had no life within it. Aqua was expecting to see those familiar surroundings, but instead what greeted her gaze was vastly different.
The ground wasn't sand but cool concrete. There were buildings of various sizes made out of brick and stone. There were trees with limbs torn, but they still had their dark green colors on their leaves. The place looked familiar but different at the same time. Could it be...that she was back where she started? Back at the Academy? Or was this all just a cruel dream for her to relive the final moments before the Mist came?
Aqua forced herself to get up, determined to find the answers to her questions.
First person writing sample:
[Ever since Aqua woke up on the cold concrete floor, she's been exploring the area, looking for any signs of her friends or classmates. Heck, it would be a real blessing if she saw a professor or even Mickey Mouse himself.
The first place she checks is the quad. The same place she spent so many hours studying by and sparring in. It was strange to see it so empty, vacant. A chill ran through her as she called out every name she could think of.]
Lottie? Axel? Kairi?
[Someone had to be there right? She couldn't give up hope.]
Ven? Terra? Goliath? [She continues to wander through the quad, heading towards the dorms next. With each step she takes her heart beat faster.]
Anyone else here? Anyone? [Please....please answer.
Aqua continues her search before she feels something heavy in her pocket. Knitting her eyebrows together she reaches inside and pulls out her old communicator. Strange, she thought she lost it so long ago. Her fingers run over the buttons, turning it on to start a video message.]
Hello? Is there anyone else here? If you can hear this message I urge you to reply. My name is Aqua and I need to know...
[She pauses there trying to figure out the right way to end her sentence. She needs to know this isn't a dream or a figment of her imagination...]
I need to know if there are other survivors.
[The message ends as white noise and static fill up the screen.]
