“Come look!” Ai was saying, and instantly Wave was suspicious.
“Not with you standing there,” she declined, watching him warily. “If you go over there, though-” she flapped a hand to underscore her words, “-I’ll look.”
He’d moved. That had been enough for Wave-even though she was still wary, she moved to the balcony’s ledge, looking over the rail. “All right,” she said. “What is it that I’m looking for?”
No response. And just as Wave was about to turn around, Ai’s voice was rightthere and inherear and she felt his hands grabbing at her, picking her up before she even had a chance to try and turn to push him away. “The ground~!” was what he whispered in her ear, and then they were balanced up on the balcony’s edge for just a couple seconds, enough for Ai to grin wickedly at her and for Wave to wrap her arms up and around his neck, squeaking as he leapt, sending them out into the air.
When they landed on the ground, safe as always, Wave struggled to be let down, waiting long enough that Ai was able to get back breath before shrilling at him, “I thought you weren’t going to do that!”
He grinned back at her, clearly amused. “Suuuunshiiiiiine only said that I had to go over there,” he reminded her. “Not~~ that I couldn’t come back over~~~”
“I-you-” It was true. And she couldn’t do anything but splutter and accuse, while Ai just laughed at her and smirked.
It wasn’t fair!
