Water's Folly: assorted, questions

Jun 04, 2010 14:00

Just realized I had never posted these over from caer-awen!

Another game--in this one, you were given a question about a character and wrote a drabblet to answer it. They're supposed~ to be under 100 words; I'm pretty sure I went over that once. Whatevs.

--> Asuka, what's the most perfect moment you've ever experienced?

The sun had just broken the horizon, rising slowly into the lightening sky.

At the top of a ridge, they stood in a line watching, first Torrel, then himself, and then Bre in the middle, followed by Cel and Kaz. Now that he’d been enlightened to their presence, Asuka could sense Nereus and Avana on either side of them.

Asuka slung an arm around his brother’s shoulders, privately pleased that for the first time in years, the younger boy didn’t immediately try to squirm away.

“Welcome home, kid,” he said, as the Desuyan sun hit their faces.

--> Bre, what event in your childhood stands out the most?
[Bre wishes you to know that Asuka has always been an ass, and that this sort of thing happened quite often. Also, in this, Bre is roughly seven, Asuka about thirteen.]

“Bre, whacha doin’?”

The little boy waits before answering, tongue between his teeth as he prods the device cautiously. “Tryin’ to see what this thing does.”

“Is that Dad’s thing?” demands Asuka, trying to grab it out of Bre’s hands. “Lemme see!”

“No!” protests Bre, hanging on with all his might. It’s his, their dad had given it to him and he isn’t giving it up just ‘cause Asuka says so.

But he’s not banking on Asuka’s newfound magic. “Bet I can make ya,” Asuka grins, a lick of fire curling around his fingers.

Bre throws the object at him just as Asuka releases the small fireball-and to both boys’ surprise, the fire disappears on contact.

Bre’s been interested in that sort of thing since.

--> Cel, what's your biggest regret?

As they leave the house, Cel can’t help but glance back.

Kaz notices, of course. “What is it?” he asks.

“Nothing.”

But really, she’s thinking about the people they’ve left behind-the chance she’s leaving behind.

“Hey, ‘Suki?” she calls.

“Yeah?”

“If you could patch things up with Siytosouma… would you?”

Asuka pauses mid-step, looking back at her. “Ah,” he breathes, slowing. “That’s what this is about.”

Cel takes another glance backwards. “This time it’s just. We might not be coming back.” She pauses. “And I told him I wouldn’t forgive him.”

She still doesn’t know if she can.

--> Dev, is there anything worth dying for?

She’d thought the news about Bre would get Devin up and out. Bre was the only person he seemed to care about-surely he wouldn’t want to sit idly by when they didn’t even know if he was still alive, right?

Devin shrugs. “I’m not goin’.”

Cel can’t believe what she’s hearing. “But… what if he dies?”

“’s his own damn fault for gettin’ it in the first place, ain’ it?” Dev shoots back. He folds his arms, narrows his eyes. “I won’t do it for you. I wouldn’t do it for anyone-I’m stayin’ here.”

So Cel gives up.

--> Kaz, what do you see as your main fault?
[AU.]

Back and forth, back and forth.

“Are we there yet?”

Edmund sighed. “No. Sit down, Kaz. You’re going to get yourself thrown off the train.”

“I can’t.”

“You can’t?”

Kaz stopped pacing, fixing Edmund with a pained look. “I can’t.”

Back and forth, back and forth.

It was so slow-they were moving too slow. At the rate they were going, they wouldn’t reach Noxia for who even knew how long?

But he needed to be there now. He couldn’t just-sit and wait around until they got there!

Back and forth, back and forth.

It was taking too long.
