My first Advertising shot

I think it's good for a first attempt, but I am always open to constructive critiques.

I removed the brand-name from the tag )

I have no background in advertising, but I (don't we all?) see it enough on a daily basis to be an honorary expert.

My very first thought is... too much shadow. All these black things fading together with no real shape or texture.

White should be burn-my-eyes-out white. Right now it looks like you washed it w/ a brand new orange shirt.

More contrast... textures should pop. You should be able to feel the textures with your eyes.

I agree, overall. I'd also like to see more depth. The eye should want to explore the picture, and dimensionally, it feels really flat, which, to me, is uninteresting. The angle of the white shirt is nice, but the almost vertical nature of the zipper fights against that. (And the shadow seems to be a continuation of the line the zipper makes, so even though it's not square, it has a right-angle feel.)

The shadow of the hat?

Yeah, it continues the line created by the zipper, which in some cases might not be a bad thing, but here it's close enough to vertical to be distracting. It's like "Everything to the left of this is meaningless and could have been cropped from the photo."

"(Crossposted a couple places ... The above LJ-cut is simulated, and leads to the original post where comments can be left.)"

For those of us who when into the control panel and setup our LJ to automatically open LJ-cuts, all simulated LJ-cuts are not automatically opened.

Hmm. I thought it would be nice to have my comments all organized in one place... But I guess I'll try posting full messages to all locations when crossposting, at least the next time. :)
