Dude, that's like saying "Serenity was no Matrix." Being in the same genre doesn't mean the one was trying to be at all like the other. Narnia has its own spirit and sensability that is very different from LotR, but equally entertaining if taken on its own terms. You went in expecting something that wasn't on the menu, and anyone who does that is bound to be disappointed with the main course.
Let's see, two big-budget fantasy epics, based on two classic book series written by men who were longtime friends and collaborators, with special effects by the same workshop, released to capitalize on the same holiday season, with many of the same themes and influences.
You're right. Nothing to compare, there.
But I willl admit a degree of facetiousness. To be fair, I didn't dislike the movie. I guess I just don't see what all the fuss was about. Aslan freaking rules, though.
