Intriguing!

Matt from IGN talks about the need to re-conceptualize the rating scale for Wii games in this blog post.

It's really an intriguing read - since games are going to be so different on the Wii, does that mean we need to re-evaluate the concepts of quality in our games?

That is a very interesting point.

On another subject: I was thinking about how much I miss Fiber. Those really used to make my day.

Attaching an objective value to a subjective opinion is always going to be the greatest challenge of videogame journalism, or any sort of reviewing for that matter. Even the number or star value or whatever given at the end is still not truly objective since it is based off the reviewer's opinion, but numbers in themselves are still objective things. Each integer or value can never represent another integer or value. I think it's always been hard to choose that one number to assign to your own opinions.

And. Whenever a new control scheme comes out, you can practically feel paradigms shifting. Remember when analog sticks on our N64 and PSX controllers seemed like the weirdest things ever, and then suddenly people realized how great they were as they adapted? That's another point to keep in mind -- what seems like an impossibility or quandary may turn out to be trivial and second-nature a year from now.

Dunno, just some thoughts. About stuff.
