My Thanksgiving was...interesting. Not quite how I wanted it to be, nor how i expected it to be, but it worked out. After all the arguments, and misunderstandings and bickering, I think it's all gonna be okay...
Xander's plane got delayed a whole bunch on Wednesday night, so he ended up not getting in until Thursday morning, early early early (1:30ish). I spent that evening having dinner at Mark's house with Mark & Tell (both silly gooses and total nerds like me, hooray!) Then off to Binky's, where i caught up with everyone.
Pat (Daniel's friend from USC), Daniel, Robby (Binky's little brother), Mo, and Bridgette (Melis's UCLA friend).
Binky and Melis pretending to be smart.
Robby, being a total dork with the camera.
The next day was Thanksgiving, which prompted all the nonsense in the previous post, but that's over and done with (Thanks to some calming down from Mark, i finally stopped crying/hyperventilating, and Xander & I stayed up until 3:30 am or so talking, and he FINALLY talked to his mom. Thank goodness), so moving on to better times!
Friday morning, Melis invited the high school crew over to her place for pancake breakfast. Xander picked me up early, and we went for chai and messed around at camino real for a bit.
Linens and Things had moshi pillow penguins! (Mommy bought me one the other day :)
Xander and the monkey pillow didn't get along.
Xander found a calendar in borders that he liked...
(look who the author is....MAUREEN!
And then I played "kitty cat" on the benches outside and just closed my eyes and sunned myself, 'cause it was chilly.
The shopping center had already put up its huge christmas tree...

Karen and Kelly cuddled on the couch...look, her boob fits perfect in the crook of my arm!
Then we all decided to go downtown and hang out on state street. And 'cause everyone wanted to see Xander in uniform, we headed back to my house so he could change.
Who else has a boy who shines his shoes?!?!?
Or kisses your cheek for pictures?
We took a bunch of dorky pictures in the car on the way downtown. Or correction, I took a lot of pictures, Xander attempted to drive while i shoved a camera in his face and taunted him to smile.
It was a gorgeous day, so we walked down state street to the wharf and went out onto the water where we got ice cream. Xander seriously had a half dozen people come up to him to talk, including a stand up commedian, a little kid who wanted to know if the navy was fun, and a homeless guy claiming to be a vet that it was his birthday. Dunno if it was true or not, but Xander and I both gave him money.
On the shuttle back up state street.
Then I had to work (turns out Dan had changed the schedule, instead of 5 i worked at 3, so i was 20 minutes late and had an angry manager to deal with), but I ended up going back to Xander's at the end of my shift and watching a couple movies. Snuggle time :) His mom was...polite, but it was a stiff, forced kind of polite, and at 10 she announced that it was time for me to go home. Whatever. I was amazed i was allowed over at all.
The next day i worked the whole morning, but Binky had been wanting Xander to have lunch with her all week, so they were going to go out. She invited me to go along too (<3) so after many adventures (lost dogs, pouring rain, accidents, power outages), we ended up having lunch at almost 4:00. Oops.
I amused myself by taking pictures on the car ride downtown.
Xander had made dinner reservations at the El Encanto (one of the fanciest restaurants in town, and where we went for prom), but due to lunch's delays, neither of us was hungry around 7. Instead we headed back downtown, where he bought me a beeyootiful necklace (to replace the one i lost down the sink in annapolis!!!!) and then to get ice cream. Us being dorks, however, we didn't go to an ice cream store, we just went to the grocery store and bought a pint of "white chocolate raspberry truffle" or something equally good, ran next door into longs where Xander stole a plastic spoon, and ate it in the car on the way to Melis's. (PS Melis the other half is still in your freezer, oops.)
Melis's was an interesting experience. Certain people should not have had to see other people, and we'll leave it at that, but in the end it all worked out, and I'm thankful.

Poor Melis and Kelly had spent all afternoon baking stuff...for some reason though as soon as Melis lit the fire, i had the idea to roast marshmallows. Did she have big marshmallows? No. Did she have a coat hanger to roast it on? No. Was it real wood we were burning? No. So i roasted mini-marshmallows on a shishkebob skewer over a chemically treated log and newspaper. Yum.
It's okay though, Bridgett did it too.
Mmmm, yummy.
The next morning Xander's flight was to leave at 6:20 am...I wanted with all my heart to go to the airport and see him off, and i even had an invitation from him to do so! (Which is a first!!!!), but i couldn't wake up. I set my alarm for 5, but when i looked at the clock it said 6:30. :( Thank goodness though, leaving him this time was 10000x easier than it has been in the past...because this time it's only 2 1/2 weeks till he's home again. And I can handle 19 days. That's nothing.
I had breakfast with Mark after that. He brought bagels and chai (<3) and we met at the airport and watched the planes land (how dorky is that?). It's comforting, to have just a FRIEND. He was to me this week what Brian was at Cal...my sanity. And i'm ridiculously thankful for it. Then I was off to work, and he was back to AZ for school, and the rest of my friends disbanded.
Less than 3 weeks until everyone is home again. Pray for me that i'll be leaving with them, next time...I went to the school today to pester my teachers about recs for UMD, and NONE of them had been sent out yet, not even the counseling one with my transcripts. HOLY CRAP, they need to BE THERE day after tomorrow. I may be screwed, but i get to hyperventilate-y when i think about it, so i'm not going to.
