[After hearing the message, and consequently the extreme tiredness in Mitsuhide's voice, Motochika comes to find him.]

You should act upon your own wisdom, my friend. Answers to your question will wait for you. Rest.

[After a week of battle he is tired himself, but not in the way that Mitsuhide is after being caught in the heat wave that obliterated the zombie-mermaids.]

[Mitsuhide is sat in the living room, on the edge of a chair. The SFC is in his hands. He has been talking to others through it, but when Motochika comes in his raises his head a little and offers his friend a small smile.]

[The young samurai does fully intend to rest properly soon, but his curiousity is currently winning the battle against his urge to sleep.]

[He inclines his chin in a challenge -- though he is amused.]

[A brief chuckle. Mitsuhide runs his free hand through his hair.]

[Motochika leaves the room; soon after he returns with his shamisen in tow. He takes a seat on the sofa.]

[At this point Mitsuhide is... sat exactly where he was before, SFC still in hand as he stares at it. A slight frown creases his brow; he is deep in thought and doesn't really register Motochika walking in.]

[Motochika glances over to Mitsuhide as he shifts his shamisen into a comfortable position and settles his hands; he doesn't look away even as he strikes all three strings of his instrument with his bachi, abruptly breaking the silence.]

[...and Mitsuhide, startled, drops the SFC. It hits the floor with a slight bang.]

[Luckily, the last conversation he'd been having had ended, so he'd not cut anyone off. But he still looks a little taken aback when he looks over at Motochika.]

My Lord... was that truly necessary?

[behisstrength]

[Motochika is merciful and doesn't laugh, but the corners of his mouth lift.]

You were preoccupied.

[It is said with an undercurrent of curiosity. He plays something nice and quiet, now that Mitsuhide is no longer lost in thought. Is it soporific? Only time will tell.]

[Mitsuhide's expression softens a little. He leans down to retrieve his device and places it on the table nearby.]

[A small smile.]

It is nothing to worry about. I was merely thinking of my purpose in this place.

[A slight pause and a nod before Mitsuhide speaks again.]

[It may not be this way forever. He might change his mind and decide otherwise depending on the future. He knows this. But for now, he has made a choice.]

I will retain my given name, but not that of my clan. I am Mitsuhide, but Mitsuhide alone.

[Motochika nods. It's not perfect, but it's still a big step.]

Very well.

[He smiles. If it means that Mitsuhide is beginning to reconcile with himself, then...]

I'm glad. Mitsuhide is enough.

[For now, certainly. There will never be a quick resolution to this, but fortunately in Vatheon there is no immediate need to reconcile with that responsibility and power. One day Mitsuhide must, but not today, or even tomorrow.]

[That smile and response relax Mitsuhide a little, and it shows in his expression. He leans back in his chair a little.]

If my Lord is glad, then I shall be content with my choice.

[Perhaps not entirely true yet, but he will tell himself that nevertheless. Another nod of the head... and a yawn.]

[It may finally be time to follow his own wisdom, as his friend suggested.]

Perhaps... perhaps I ought to retire now. I feel like I might take days to recover.
