[Mitsuhide is dressed in what definitely counts as unusual clothing for him; an extremely beautiful and what some might call stereotypically 'gothic' suit, coloured in purples and blacks. There is an intricate mask in his free hand.]We are cursed again. Am I to assume this is related to the 'Halloween' festival Miss Rena told me about? It would ( Read more... )

Don't I?

[Guess who calls out as he jogs over from nearby dressed like this? He puts his SFC away in his leather satchel, and holds out a toffee apple with his other hand. His eyes are sharp, the only indication of his disconcertment. He looks Mitsuhide over with interest.]

I would not have recognised you, at first glance. [Well, that was not entirely accurate, different as this look was.] Almost.

[Mitsuhide... doesn't seem surprised to see you, Motochika. Hurhur.]

I would not say you are an actual bat, Lord Motochika. I see no wings. So... no. You don't count.

[A short laugh as he accepts the toffee apple. His gaze sweeps over Motochika's outfit briefly.]

It certainly is very different, isn't it? The clothes are very beautiful, however.

[He takes an experimental lick of the toffee apple and, yup, it appeals to his sweet tooth. So good.]

Yes. [There is a brief smirk, but it fades when he looks back the way he came a few moments later.]

It is a pity the same cannot be said of the locals. You mentioned a festival?

[The locals; yes, they had given him quite a shock. Then he'd held a normal conversation with one. That had been strange, to say the least.]

Yes. 'Halloween.' Miss Rena told me a little about it.

[He thinks for a moment.]

She mentioned that people dress in unusual costumes, give sweet things to children, carve pumpkins and decorate places so that they appear to be haunted.

Hm.

[Motochika looks back to his friend.]

This 'Halloween' would seem to fit.

Indeed.

[Mitsuhide takes another few licks of the toffee apple.]

Though apparently, it is not just children who can get sweet things. This is really good, my Lord!

I have one for Gracia, too.

[He already ate his own; he smiles as he watches Mitsuhide.]

These are not the only festival sweets. Come, if you have finished admiring Vatheon's strange new creatures.

[If Motochika didn't already have Mitsuhide's full attention, he would have gotten it now. As it was, the young samurai looked very interested in that prospect.]

There are more?

[A nod.]

Let's go, then. Where did you get this one, my Lord?

A stall, along this path.

[He leads on! And soon enough, there is a stall with many themed sweets, manned by a pair of skeletons. There is something grim about their cheerfulness, with appearances as they are.]

[Mitsuhide glances at the stall holders, and greets them politely when they offer a friendly 'hello.' How, exactly, did they even talk?]

[...that was a pretty minor 'how'' compared to much of what happened in Vatheon, really. He focused on the treats before him.]

Oh... I shouldn't take too many or I'd probably eat them all.

[A short laugh, and he finishes off the toffee apple.]

I must restrain myself.

[Motochika is clearly amused. Mitsuhide is a light in the gloom of Vatheon's Halloween; easily drawing focus away from the somewhat chilling atmosphere.]

That may be wise.

[As the toffee apple disappears, he points out]

Some do not look difficult to recreate.

[Mitsuhide makes a 'hmmmm' sound as he surveys his options.]

You're right... I wonder if I could learn to cook some?

[There are some lovely little cakes with cute decorations that keep catching his eye, and... bat shaped biscuits?]

Yes, that would be good...

You could even involve Gracia.

[Motochika follows Mitsuhide's gaze. He picks up one of the bat-shaped biscuits.]

I suppose these bats do not count?

[They're tasty, though.]
