today when morgan picked me up from the airport, she had a letter from university of minnesota for me. we were both sure it was a rejection letter, since UMN is such a great school (i applied to social work and public health, both of which are top-ten programs), and the envelope was so thin. i had never really expected to get into either program, ( Read more... )

shanks dahlin'!

we haven't heard anything from any of morgan's schools yet. actually, she did...she got an email from MIT saying that they want to do a phone interview-type thingy, but obviously that's pretty inconclusive. my stuff has really be coming in early, though...i think middle march or early april is when things will really start rolling in. :)

congradulations!!!!! I know you will do well and make lasting change! remember to connect with as many professors as you can and learn as much as your brain will allow, and accept constructive criticism. Most of all really enjoy your time there. If you need help looking for fellowships I can dedicate a few hours to help. Peace be with you!

ok, here's that semi-creepy well-intentioned post from a lurker. here goes.

my name is carrick, i read your journal occasionally because i'm also into public health and am looking at grad schools (starting in 07). i'm currently at school in WI.

I was up at UMN this last week looking at the SPH. I brought back TONS of information, and everyone i talked to was really friendly. Got a good feel from the school.

needless to say, congrats on acceptance! what program are you going into specifically?

i'm gonna add you as well.... hope this didn't come off as creep-o random

hey, nice to meet you, at least, in that weird online way.

it's good to know that you got a good feeling from the SPH. i haven't had a chance to visit yet, but i've talked to quite a few students there and have heard really exciting things about the twin cities.

thanks for the congrats - i'm really excited about it. the program i'm going into is community health education, hopefully with a dual master's in social work, although i won't hear from the MSW program for a couple of weeks yet. which program do you have your eye on?

i've added you back, of course. :)
