I think I wrote this shortly after my own Very Silly Engagement Experience. I needed to deal with it through fluffy fic writing, I guess.
Not that this is anything like my experience at all.

I had a fairly silly Engagement Experience, myself. And so I felt led to write something that would dismantle that (sexist) cultural feminine childhood dream of the "engagement moment" ... this is what happened.
